Sizing Your First Soccer Cleats

Learn how to buy soccer cleats that fit your feet.

Choosing the right size cleat will make a huge difference in both the performance you get from your gear as well as your comfort while wearing it. For this reason, it’s always best to get the right size the first time rather than relying on how it feels on the pitch.

The sizing for adidas soccer cleats works pretty much like what you’re already familiar with for your everyday shoes. Be careful with just purchasing something in your shoe size, however, as a bit tighter of a fit is recommended for cleats. A general rule of thumb you’re looking for about a fourth of an inch to half an inch of space between your toes and the end of the shoe and a snug fit between the top of your foot and the upper.

Another thing to keep in mind is that soccer cleats, as a general rule, do not tend to come in multiple widths. Definitely keep an eye out for the rare wide version if you can find it, but you may just want to choose a different style boot that fits you more comfortably. For this reason someone with thinner feet may want the adidas Predator, while someone with more girth to their foot may want something like the adidas adiZero Prime.

Whatever style you choose, just make sure that your adidas soccer shoes are a good fit. No one likes leaving the pitch with blisters for wearing a poor fitting boot.
