Palace v Southampton – Live

Southampton travel to Selhurst Park tonight in the Championship’s 8pm kick off.  However the saints are travelling without Tomas Pekhart, Euell and Ryan Smith however Morgan Schneiderlin is expected to return to the squad.

The saints will be looking to move clear of the relegation zone whilst a Palace win could take the eagles into the play off positions on level points with Cardiff City.

True Saint [Southampton Fan]

Who will win the League?
Birmingham

Who will get relegated?
Swansea, Doncaster and Sheffield Wednesday

Who will be top goalscorer?

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

Biggest Suprise?
QPR

Who will be player of the year?
James Beattie

Biggest Disappointment?
Norwich

Tresor [Birmingham Fan]

Who will win the League? Hate to be so optimistic, but as backed up by all bookies and pundits, we have the strongest squad in the League, and I will disappointed not to win it. I realise that it’s not that easy, as Steve likes to remind me, but seriously, look at our firepower and depth.

Who will get relegated? Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday + any from Barnsley, Doncaster and Saints

Who will be top goalscorer? – Not one of our lot, we have too many for consistancy, Beattie is abit injury prone, so I’ll go for Earnshaw or most likely Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Biggest Suprise? Burnley or Coventry, Two quality squads, I expect both to finish top 8.

Who will be player of the year? Heart says Seb Larsson, Head says Sylvan Ebanks-Blake or Kightly.

Biggest Disappointment? QPR, I still think top 8 is a sure thing, but the hype means anything less than top 3 will be a disappointment; although to be fair to them, their fans know that the hype is a little too much. Also I think Coppell is losing it, and despite this being the same team that ran away with it 3 years ago, there is a different air around Reading

Hatch [Ipswich Fan]

Who will win the League?

Reading – They seem to have kept most their squad apart from Shorey.

Who will get relegated?

Doncaster, Southampton, Watford

Who will be top goalscorer?

Ebanks-Blake or Doyle

Biggest Suprise?

I reckon Coventry could be up there with a quick succesion of free transfers this week including the once prolific Clinton Morrison. The likes of East and West wood, Doyle and Tabb could be enough to push Cov towards those top two places.

Who will be player of the year?

I can see it being a Coventry player – Jay Tabb is peaking. Akos Buszaky could impress too.

Biggest Disappointment?

I can see Derby having a hard time and suffering a similar fate as Charlton and Sheffield Utd from last season. They will probably finish mid-table or worse.

Larry [West Ham Fan]

Biggest Suprise?

Season Preview – Southampton Fan

Are you pleased with your summer transfers?
Fairly pleased with them, especially with our very limited transfer funds. Beating other teams like Portsmouth and apparently Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Morgan Schneiderlin is possibly our most promising signing. Most suprising though is the fact that the deal could rise up to 1.5 million Euros, which in our case is a lot of money. Our other transfers Paul Wotton, Lee Holmes, Chris Perry and Tommy Forecast seem to be settling in well and hopefuly will combine well with our current squad. Michael Svensson who has been out injured for a very long time is hopefuly signing on a pay as you play contract and has recently been selected as our captain. So overall a decent selection of players have joined thanks to our managers promise of playing younger players.

Who would you still realisitically like to sign?
Any established defender would be fine because we are still lacking in numbers for wingbacks and defensive cover. Saying that Poortvliet may use our youth squad to help ease our left and right back worries.

What is your teams main strength?
Our strike force has been our main strength for a few years.Last season for example Stern John getting nineteen goals . Mcgoldrick has scored nine goals in pre season, three times against Premierleague teams. Hopefuly our other strikers will get a good handful of goals aswell.

Who is the weak link in your team?
I dont think we have a real weak link but if we have a bad performance I hope that our confidence does not sink due to a few peoples errors.

Where do you think you will finish the season?
Staying up seems to be our main aim. But if we get off to a good start I will be pleased with mid table.

Is your manager the right man for the job?
Jan Poortvliet seems a good manager and the majority of our players we have signed praised our managers promise to use youth on a regular basis.

One to watch?
Going by pre season hopefuly David Mcgoldrick and Morgan Schneiderlin.

What would be the highlight of your season?
Staying up and our youth players showing class and maturity.

Portsmouth To Help Out Rivals Southampton

Portsmouth will be helping out bitter rivals Southampton when they complete an £11million deal for former Southampton player Peter Crouch.

When Crouch signed for Liverpool, there was a sell on percentage included in the deal which was confirmed by Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe.

The fee is believed to be around £500,000 and will be a much needed cash boost for the Championship side who are struggling with money.
