Newcastle v West Ham

Newcastle United v West Ham United

Newcastle go into this must win home game with stress and strife both on and off the pitch. Injuries to several key players mean that once more they will be fielding a depleted side with hints of a possible start for striker Andy Carroll, his first under Kinnear. Add to this the media frenzy of the will he/won’t he sale of Given must surely bring about a tough challenge.

West Ham make the long trip up from the east of London looking to record a fourth straight win in all competitions. Unlike Newcastle, West Ham have a problem accommodating all there fit players with Parker coming back from suspension and Neill overcoming injury the competition is high.

The match throws up many an interesting fact amongst them being the game is Newcastle’s 300th Premier League game at St James’ and West Ham United midfielder Valon Behrami had won 55 free-kicks – more than any other Premier League player.

Is Sunderland v Newcastle Really A ‘Derby’ ?

There’s always been a little bit of discussion regarding what is and isn’t a derby.

For me, a derby is a game where two teams from the same city play each other. For example, Rangers vs Celtic (Glasgow), Everton vs Liverpool (Liverpool).

Then theres the likes of Sunderland vs Newcastle and Pompey vs Southampton. For me, they are not derbies. They are just rivalries.

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

Widely recognised as a fighter, Sir Bobby Robson has refused to give in to cancer an astonishing five times. He is still fighting 15 years after his first diagnosis and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for tumours in his lungs.

You might think that at the age of 75, and having retired from football management, Sir Bobby would be taking a well earned rest and focusing all of his energies on his own health. But you would be wrong. He’s set himself a new and very challenging goal.

Sir Bobby’s big goal is to fight cancer – in his own battle with the disease and by creating a charitable foundation. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation will focus on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.

Bobby’s asking you to support him now by giving as much as you can to the foundation. All donors will receive a personalised certificate and letter of thanks from Sir Bobby.

You can visit his website by clicking here.

If any supporters or companys have signed memorabilia that they would like to donate to Football-Forever.com, 100% of the money raised will be donated to the Sir Bobby Robson foundation with a certificate as proof, We will promote any of the companys involved. Email us at mail@football-forever.com

Alan Smith – Definition Of ‘Panic Buy’?

As the Premier League approaches quickly around the corner, Everton have yet still to sign anyone during the summer transfer window.

Names such as Moutinho, Milito, González, Fernandes, Arshavin and Vágner Love have all been heavily linked to Goodison Park since the transfer window opened.

However it now seems that Alan Smith will be travelling up to Merseyside to discuss a potentional £2m move to the Toffees.

This move has been met with disappointed and rightly so frustrated Evertonians who believe their team should be signing quality players rather then opting for a striker who didn’t score during the whole of last season.

Newcastle Sign Bassong

Newcastle are set to complete the signing of FC Metz defender Sebastien Bassong.

Bassong agreed personal terms at St.James’s Park last night and passed a medical earlier today to close in on the deal.

The French defender was previously on trial at Newcastle and was involved in their defeat to Doncaster. The last bit of paper work should be completed tommorrow and he should be unveiled as a Newcastle player.

Barton You Have Been Evicted, You May Now Leave Walton Prison

Joey Barton has been released from Prison after serving only two months of his six month sentence for assault.

This news comes only a day after Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan confirmed he would give the midfielder another chance at St.James’s Park.

Keegan said to the BBC – “Joey will be back with us towards the end of this month,” said Keegan.

“It’s well documented he’s had his problems, but I knew of them when I took over. He’s served his sentence, he’s been punished for what he did wrong.

“The world is littered with people that have been given a second chance and taken it with both hands.

“I told him as long as from now on he did things right and started to rebuild the confidence of people around him, I would stick by him.

“The Joey Barton that we had in the last couple of months of the season was a much-changed character.

“I’m hoping that he’ll come back and we’ll get him fit. It’s up to Joey to put things right now – he’s got to win over a lot of people.”
