Ipswich v Sheff Wed

Ipswich v Sheffield Wednesday

Earlier in the season, the two sides met at Hillsbrough and played out a dab
0-0 draw. The Owls were on the wrong end of Ipswich breaking their
atrocious away record last season in February, while Town thumped them 4-
1 at Portman Road on the first matchday of last season.

Sheffield Wednesday welcome Michael Gray to the side having signed on
loan from Wolves this afternoon. Jimmy Smith and Bartosz Slusarski
meanwhile have left Hillsbrough following loan spells at the club.

The Tractor Boys have Veliche Shumulikoski out after the Macedonian picked
up his fifth booking of the season in the 3-0 win over Chesterfield, although
Owen Garvan could return in his place after he restarted full training
following suffering from the flu over Christmas.

Prediction: 2-1

Championship Predicitions

We asked some of our Football League fans to fill out a serious of predicitions and they are as follows, if you would like to do the same then you can join in at our forums by clicking here.

True Saint [Southampton Fan]

Who will win the League?
Birmingham

Who will get relegated?
Swansea, Doncaster and Sheffield Wednesday

Who will be top goalscorer?

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake

Biggest Suprise?
QPR

Who will be player of the year?
James Beattie

Biggest Disappointment?
Norwich

Tresor [Birmingham Fan]

Who will win the League? Hate to be so optimistic, but as backed up by all bookies and pundits, we have the strongest squad in the League, and I will disappointed not to win it. I realise that it’s not that easy, as Steve likes to remind me, but seriously, look at our firepower and depth.

Who will get relegated? Blackpool and Sheffield Wednesday + any from Barnsley, Doncaster and Saints

Who will be top goalscorer? – Not one of our lot, we have too many for consistancy, Beattie is abit injury prone, so I’ll go for Earnshaw or most likely Sylvan Ebanks-Blake.

Biggest Suprise? Burnley or Coventry, Two quality squads, I expect both to finish top 8.

Who will be player of the year? Heart says Seb Larsson, Head says Sylvan Ebanks-Blake or Kightly.

Biggest Disappointment? QPR, I still think top 8 is a sure thing, but the hype means anything less than top 3 will be a disappointment; although to be fair to them, their fans know that the hype is a little too much. Also I think Coppell is losing it, and despite this being the same team that ran away with it 3 years ago, there is a different air around Reading

Hatch [Ipswich Fan]

Who will win the League?

Reading – They seem to have kept most their squad apart from Shorey.

Who will get relegated?

Doncaster, Southampton, Watford

Who will be top goalscorer?

Ebanks-Blake or Doyle

Biggest Suprise?

I reckon Coventry could be up there with a quick succesion of free transfers this week including the once prolific Clinton Morrison. The likes of East and West wood, Doyle and Tabb could be enough to push Cov towards those top two places.

Who will be player of the year?

I can see it being a Coventry player – Jay Tabb is peaking. Akos Buszaky could impress too.

Biggest Disappointment?

I can see Derby having a hard time and suffering a similar fate as Charlton and Sheffield Utd from last season. They will probably finish mid-table or worse.

Larry [West Ham Fan]
Who will win the League?
….can’t really see much further then Birmingham

Who will get relegated?
…Blackpool, Doncaster, not sure about who else

Who will be top goalscorer?
kevin phillips

Biggest Suprise?
Swansea

Biggest Disappointment?
again I think Charlton and Sheffield Utd

The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation

Widely recognised as a fighter, Sir Bobby Robson has refused to give in to cancer an astonishing five times. He is still fighting 15 years after his first diagnosis and is currently undergoing chemotherapy for tumours in his lungs.

You might think that at the age of 75, and having retired from football management, Sir Bobby would be taking a well earned rest and focusing all of his energies on his own health. But you would be wrong. He’s set himself a new and very challenging goal.

Sir Bobby’s big goal is to fight cancer – in his own battle with the disease and by creating a charitable foundation. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation will focus on the early detection and treatment of cancer and the clinical trials of new drugs that will eventually beat it.

Bobby’s asking you to support him now by giving as much as you can to the foundation. All donors will receive a personalised certificate and letter of thanks from Sir Bobby.

You can visit his website by clicking here.

If any supporters or companys have signed memorabilia that they would like to donate to Football-Forever.com, 100% of the money raised will be donated to the Sir Bobby Robson foundation with a certificate as proof, We will promote any of the companys involved. Email us at mail@football-forever.com

Ipswich Petition To Honour Sir Bobby Robson

Football fan site TWTD.co.uk have set up an online petition to honour legend Sir Bobby Robson by naming a stand after him.

The content included.

“Sir Bobby Robson is one of the greatest and most influential figures in the history of Ipswich Town Football Club. He is also one of the most respected and well loved characters in the game, not only in the UK but across Europe.

Sadly, Sir Bobby is again unwell. We believe that the time has come to rename the North Stand at Portman Road, “The Sir Bobby Robson Stand” in tribute. We believe it would be fitting to ensure that this honour is bestowed during Sir Bobby’s lifetime so he can fully understand the level of affection and appreciation which exists in the club.”

Season Preview – Ipswich Fan

Are you pleased with your summer transfers?
Yes, very, Balkestein was a very unknown player who has impressed pre-season. Lisbie is a huge threat, McAuley will keep the defence solid and return of old boy Richard Wright helps. Campo on his way too!

Who would you still realisitically like to sign?
No particular names, we seek a strong left back though after not really having one since Hreidarsson.

What is your teams main strength?
We spent all of January reinforcing the midfield yet I feel that our defence is now our strongest part with McAuley and David Wright who I consider two of the top defenders in the league.

Who is the weak link in your team?
We have no particular weak link who actually plays, but left mid has been weak for too long to remember and I feel right-footed Alan Quinn (signed from the Blades in Jan) doesn’t quite fit the bill.

Where do you think you will finish the season?

I THINK we will finish in the top 6, I HOPE we finish in the top 2. I reckon 5th is a realistic ambition however.

Is your manager the right man for the job?
Perfect. He’s Ipswich through and through and is very careful and shrewd when spending money. Some tactics and formations have been questionned but he’s extreamly committed.

One to watch?
Macedonian Velice Shumilikoski could shine in his second season in the league after having half a season to adapt to English football. Many Ipswich fans would say Jon Walters though.

What would be the highlight of your season?
Playing consistant good football and being acknowledged for it. Being taken seriously as a top 6 team and prooving many critics wrong but going to Wembley at least.

Campo Agrees Two Year Ipswich Deal

Former Bolton midfielder Ivan Campo will complete a move to Championship side Ipswich Town next week after agreeing personal terms.

Campo was in attendance at Ipswich’s pre-season friendly against Premier League team West Ham United.

Chief executive Derek Bowden told the club’s official website – “We have agreed terms with Ivan over a deal and he will be at Portman Road on Monday for a medical.

“If everything goes well with that, and we have no reason to believe otherwise, then he will sign.”

No Nugent Interest

A portsmouth spokesman has confirmed that there has been no interest in Portsmouth striker David Nugent.

Reports linked the England International to a potential move to Championship side Ipswich Town who made their interest known last year.

The spokesman said – “Ipswich did register an interest in David Nugent last season and there was some dialogue between the clubs.

“But there has certainly been no further contact since then.”
