Defender On His Way To Bolton

Bolton have agreed a fee with West Ham for defender Calum Davenport for a fee believed to be in the region of £2million, however Bolton manager Gary Megson is not to confident on completing the deal.

Megson claims that despite having a bid accepted they will not rule out other players for the same position.

The Bolton manager said – “We’ve got an agreement with West Ham but we’re also looking at other players in that position.

“It still may happen that Calum joins Bolton but we will need another 24 hours before we decide what we are going to do.

“We’ve also got another player that we’re close to coming to an agreement with, so it’s decision time.

“We may get accused of messing somebody about but we’ve got to do what’s right for the football club.”

Campo Agrees Two Year Ipswich Deal

Former Bolton midfielder Ivan Campo will complete a move to Championship side Ipswich Town next week after agreeing personal terms.

Campo was in attendance at Ipswich’s pre-season friendly against Premier League team West Ham United.

Chief executive Derek Bowden told the club’s official website – “We have agreed terms with Ivan over a deal and he will be at Portman Road on Monday for a medical.

“If everything goes well with that, and we have no reason to believe otherwise, then he will sign.”

Diouf On His Way For Sunderland Medical

As we reported yesterday Bolton striker El Hadji Diouf is now on his way to the Stadium of Light to undergo a medical.

Sunderland were believed to be in the race to sign Everton’s Andrew Johnson or Tottenham’s Darren Bent but this signing could end both those links.

Diouf confirmed he would be leaving the Reebok stadium after waving goodbye to his Bolton faithful on the last day of the season, whilst Gary Megson confirmed bids had been made for the forward.

Black Cats Chase Spit The Dog, Not the Other Way Around?

Sunderland are chasing Bolton Striker El Hadji Diouf and are set to end his Bolton nightmare after claiming he would not play for them again only to return to pre-season training.

Diouf celebrates scoring.

Bolton manager Gary Megson said – “There has been some recent interest in Dioufy.

“He made comments at the end of last season but he’s been back at training for the last couple of days and has been fine.”

Diouf would be Sunderland’s third signing in a few days after both Chimbonda & Tainio signed for the Black cats.
