Player Fails To Agree Personal Terms

Barsnley have called off the transfer to bring Chesterfield striker Jamie Ward to Oakwell after the player failed to agree personal terms with the club.

An original bid of £400,000 had been accepted by Chesterfield for the services of Ward, who is out of contract in the summer, but his agent confirmed that Barnsley did not offer his client the wages he felt he deserved.

His agent Gino Culbertson said: “Jamie had a figure in mind and unfortunately Barnsley couldn’t match that figure.

“It’s disappointing but we move on and it’s business as usual.”
